Waseda University International Corporation is seeking part-time English language instructors for the 2009-2010 academic year to teach courses offered in the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS:‘Û‹³—{Šw•”), Waseda University.
1. Courses to teach
(a) Academic Listening (up to 25 students per class)
15 90-minutes lessons per semester. The classes are offered on Thursday morning.
(b) Academic Writing (up to 20 students per class)
15 90-minutes lessons per semester. The classes are offered in the afternoon of Tuesdays and Fridays.
2. Qualification
(a) M.A. degree or equivalent teaching experience.
(b) Two years or more of relevant teaching experience required.
Experience at a university-level institution, preferable.
3. Pay
7500 yen per lesson (90 minutes) plus grading fee

Write a short essay in English outlining your approach to teaching academic English to first year students within a liberal arts curriculum. Use A4 sheet: 700-800 words. If you wish to teach both the listening and writing classes, you will be expected to attend a separate interview for each.
If you would like to apply for more than one of the above courses, please submit a different essay for each subject you would like to teach. The essay should describe your teaching philosophy on the course in which you are interested. You are required to have a separate interview for each program and may be expected to do a demo lesson.
There will be a preliminary screening based on the documents submitted. Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview by January 9, 2009.
